The Stabile Theater of Verona

Since 1846 the Teatro Nuovo of Verona is a forge of cultural initiatives: recognized as the city’s centre for drama, it is private but open to public use and it finances itself autonomously through Lovestone Project, without weighing on the general public.
In 2005, it received recognition as a TEATRO STABILE from the Ministry of Cultural affairs, hence becoming part of a very special national elite. Such a recognition speaks for the quality and continuity achieved in the field of production, training and promotion of theatrical arts across the region and the hospitality of these productions. It reinforces the values and the effort put into highly cultural initiatives, which have led and lead to important collaborations. Paolo Valerio is its art director since 1994.
The theatrical group was created in 1989, with a group of actors hailing from the Paolo Grassi school of theatrical arts in Milan.
The group developed its artistic style investigating and playing the masterpieces of classical drama with a touch of uniqueness and a focus on Shakespearian pieces, the regional Veneto style as well as contemporary drama.
The Teatro Stabile of Verona runs and promotes a theatrical/drama school in Verona. The school’s main aim is to equip its students with the skills needed to undertake the profession of an actor or director, but also to provide a valid opportunity for those who wish to approach theatre and drama for passion or as a hobby.
Each year lots of courses are held from October to May: drama, both for adults and youth, diction, creative writing, On-stage body language and  play way-theatre for the little ones.
Furthermore, internships and workshops regarding various themes are organized.
In 2005 the Circuito Gruppo Attività Teatrali/Theatrical Activities Group Circuit (GAT) – association constituted in 1983 and recognized by the Veneto Region and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, active in the field of organization and management of cultural projects and theatre festivals- adhered to the Fondazione Atlantide -Teatro Stabile di Verona, becoming one of the founders and thus uniting to generate an efficient strategy to enhance theatrical culture by means of an increase in audience.
Hence, the Teatro Stabile of Verona organizes and manages the annual drama seasons of many theatres in the Veneto region. The shows, produced by the most well known and important national as well as international groups range from classical to modern theatre, from cabaret to operettas and from classical to modern dance. Besides the evening shows, the task of educating and promoting the younger sections of the audience is promoted by means of matinee sessions for schools, given the belief, that the education of “ new spectators” is an essential prerogative for the theatre itself.
